right now One vs One in guild wars I don't believe is really possible, the builds from what I've read (And i'm no expert) seem to be catered entirely for team builds

Builds in World of Warcraft and other games i've played seem to allow any class to play on their own in PVE but also in PVP

Hm... usually is not a good idea to suggest anything "WoW-Style"

I'd hate to see GW turned into a non-fee WoW.

The sole idea is... not very attractive.

nah no thx. GW = 8 skills on your bar, where you have to be "balanced". WoW = infinite skills that allows you to be mindless and just click whatever you feel like clicking. i would prefer if GW stayed GW and WoW stayed WoW.

1v1s in Guild halls ARE possible. I've highlighted your problem though. You just get builds from wiki/forums. There are hundreds of builds viable in 1v1 fights, most of them some sort of tanker build or counter build (backfire + elemental resistance against an ele, etc). They just aren't popularized on fan sites because they are mostly... lame.

Yes, you can just use a scrimmage in your guild hall for a 1v1 (no faction etc. is gained though)

And I don't know why you said "WoW-style" the MMO Risk Your Life did this far before WoW ever came out.

Unless you both tell each other builds

theres skill involved sure but the build that counters the other one better wins instead of how to use your class

the reason they cater to team based battles is because 1v1 is for noobs with lame farming builds who want to settle arguments with people who say that their build sucks. All this for their e-peen.

exactly the farming builds bite thats why there's no real reason for the current 1 vs 1 in guild wars

its just who has the best 55 farming build

i hope in guild wars 2 its not even possible

If you played WoW, you would know that what you said is not true. And since you havent played WoW, its not like your oppinion on anything that has to do with WoW should matter, so dont waste your time writing.

Im pretty sure that what the OP ment is a 'quickie' duel. Sure you can scrimmage in your GH, but this takes time to set up, whereas the OP suggests you just make a few clicks and youre off to a fight, no build tweaking, no preparation whatsoever, quick, simple, and fun. I belive THAT is what "WoW style" meant.

dueling adds somthing to the game, its a small thing but it brings you into the game more imo, from what i've played in wow.
its a nice feature until you come up againsta 12 year old "OMG n00b you cheated,I r0x i should win,n00b!" (rare occurance)

Just let him be? Dont accept and it ends as far as you are concerned. He is not harming anyone, and if its whats fun for him, why blame him? Besides its all part of interacting with people, which you need to accept as a posibility when playing an online game.
IMO, sometimes the best action is random action.

So if it's fun for him to offer duels to everyone in the zone, it's okay, but if I don't like it when get an invite, I have to ignore it? I get annoyed when I take my level 20 warrior to Ascalon to give a item to a friend and get 3 invites to groups from level 6's before I find my friend.

Is it harassment if I have to ignore duels from every 15 (or 50) year old assassin every time I zone into LA?

A better idea would be a RA town that you can go into, hit join battle and get paired up randomly for a heroless 1v1 fight. That is something I could agree with.

Umm, yes, decline, ignore? Whats the problem ? No one is forcing you to respond to anything.
You play an online game with other humans. If you DONT want contact with strangers, go play a single player game. Simple as that.
